"There is still time to dream."
On the anniversary of the passing of Dwankhozi Hope's founder, and our dear friend, Charles Masala, we share this oft used phrase by him. As an engineer, Charles was a practical man, yet he was also a big dreamer. He shared his dream with us to help provide new opportunities to his home community in Zambia through education. He inspired us to take action and encouraged us to walk with this community. He taught us to listen and engage. What began as a project to complete a school building has turned into more than a decade of sustained partnership and transformation in the Zambian community.
The annual RSVP bike ride, spanning from Seattle to Vancouver, like all large-scale events in the world, has been cancelled this year. But we will still be riding to honor Charles and raise money for the Dwankhozi community. We will continue to "Ride for Hope."
On August 22nd, a group of riders will embark from Seattle on a daylong ride to carry on this great tradition. The route will look different, but our passion is sustained.
