Rico is one of our treasured therapy horses, who changes lives for the better, one gentle hoof-step at a time. He is 22-years-young, an angel whose work here on earth is not yet done.~
Dream a Dream Therapeutic Horsemanship desperately misses our ‘Rico Suavie’ and hopes he will be healthy enough to come back home to us soon. As many of you know, Rico underwent major colic surgery at Texas A&M Large Animal Clinic on January 9th to clear and repair an impacted small intestine, an expensive surgical procedure necessary to save Rico’s life. Thank goodness one of DaDTH’s benefactors stepped up to pay for Rico’s initial surgery and post-surgical treatments – costs that exceeded $6,000 just within the first 36 hours.
But the daily invoices for Rico’s medical aftercare continue to rack up, while he recovers at the horse hospital ~ although he is doing well, all things considered, Rico might need to remain hospitalized another two weeks or even longer.
Back home at DaDTH, Rico is in the first stall in the barn and a greeting mascot to all when they arrive. His empty stall saddens everyone, both volunteers and riders. The bond we have with our horses can't be explained to those who've never experienced this kind of relationship. Rico means so much to so many and we are reaching out so Rico can come back home to all who love and adore him.
Please, are YOU able to donate to help offset these aftercare medical bills? Please help us pay for the care Rico needs. Not only for us, but for all of the individuals he has touched. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
