Alright...here's the deal. I haven't been disciplined in running at all. Since my Badwater-to-Whitney crossing, I haven't felt the need to run; be competitive; or even want to lace up the shoes. I've also been relentlessly crushing on my dissertation which is also all things Badwater.
Whelp...I'm a glutton for punishment and this last man standing race is in my town. Let's face it...it's only 1 mile every 15 minutes. What could possible go wrong?
LOL...lots and lots can go wrong. I'm essentially going to run this literally "off the couch".
Here's where you come in. I want to use this crazy and very dumb idea to raise some funds for Band of Runners. For those that don't know what Band of Runners (BoR) is, we are long-time mountain, ultra and trail runners, race directors and coaches from across the United States. Our mission is to share the community of trail running and the physical and psychological benefits running in nature provides with veterans and their surviving family members.
We do this by conducting a top-notch trail running camp every year.
So here is how this fundraising will go. I will also be contributing to this fundraiser. I will match a certain percentage based on the mileage run. This percentage will be matched to the total amount raised on this campaign.
Mileage to Percentage:
20 miles = 75% match
30 miles = 65% match
40 miles = 55% match
50 miles = 50% match
60 miles = 45% match
70 miles = 40% match
80 miles = 35% match
90 miles = 30% match
100 miles or more = 25% match
