Rick Worrel was a beloved advocate who had a passion for training his community in Hands-Only CPR.
After surviving a cardiac arrest in 2016 during a 5K race, thanks to immediate bystander CPR, Rick survived and became a tireless advocate for the American Heart Association. For over three years, he shared his story of survival with anyone and everyone he could, in hopes that he would empower just one person to take action in a cardiac arrest. “If we can save even one life, that’s the goal,” he said.
Unfortunately, on August 24, 2019, Rick suffered another cardiac arrest. This time, alone in a fitness room of a hotel, and passed away a few days later.
Rick’s family now wants his legacy to continue to live on by placing an interactive and educational Hands-Only CPR Kiosk so that more lives will be saved.
Thank you for joining Rick’s family and the American Heart Association in being a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
Rick is why.
