Thank you for visiting my donation page for the 2019 Cape Cod Bay Challenge (CCBC). July 27th will mark the 12th running of the CCBC and will be my 4th year paddling in the event. In 2019, the CCBC will consist a 7-9-hour, 22-mile stand-up paddleboard marathon down the South Shore of Massachusetts from Nantasket or Scusset beach to Duxbury Beach.
The purpose of the event is to raise money for a wonderful non-profit organization called Christopher’s Haven. Christopher’s Haven provides housing to children (and their families) who come to Boston for pediatric cancer treatment. In addition to a participant in the event, I am also on the Board of the CCBC and help with the planning of the event but the real joy for me has been donating silent auction items that I won back to the kids fighting cancer. I did not need to meet the children but seeing their pictures wearing the items gave my love of the ocean true purpose. One young boy was able to wear a signed Dustin Pedroia jersey go to a Sox game and actually meet "Pedey" the "Laser Show". Another year I received pictures of a fourteen-year-old girl opening my donated Saint Christopher necklace and nearly brought tears to my eyes. Christopher's Haven not only provides housing for families who have a child going through cancer treatment, but it is a support system to help with things large and small, and a community where families can be together, share a laugh, be comforted, and comfort others. Christopher’s Haven allows kids and families to focus their energies on the challenge of beating cancer. It is an amazing place.
Please consider donating on my behalf. All donations amounts are much appreciated.
