Richard and Kathy met while Richard was a sophomore at the University of Michigan. They met one May, were engaged the next May, married the next May and had their first of 6 children the following May. Married for over 44 years they reside in Ann Arbor. Richard retired this year from Dick Genthe Chevrolet, Genthe Honda, and Genthe Honda Powersports. Emily, Andrew, and Bruce (the 4th generation) now run the enterprise. Leaving plenty of time for dancing. Kathy ( Mae Mae as known to their 20 grandchildren) has never retired and is the forever Mom and Grandmother.
The Genthe family became personally involved with ChadTough a little over 2 years ago when searching for a way to effectively tie into Honda Powersports’ over thirty year commitment to Pediatric Brain Tumor Research. The search lead them very quickly to the Chad Tough Foundation and their joint alignment with the University of Michigan’s Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Center. Genthe Automotive has been the Pre ChadTough Gala Reception Sponsor for the last 2 years. This last year they were also able to partner with Honda to make the newly redesigned Honda Goldwing available for auction at the event.
Ever looking for new ways to support essential initiative, the Genthes jumped at the chance to participate in the upcoming Dancing with the Michigan Stars! Always one of the firsts to break the ice at any event where there is dancing, they are super excited to combine one of the most fun things they enjoy to do with raising money towards race for the cure to DIPG.
They would love to have you come out to support them March 7th and enjoy a fantastic fun and impactful evening!
