We were diagnosed at our 20 week ultrasound with critical aortic stenosis. This quickly developed into hypoplastic left heart syndrome with an intact septum. We were given little to no hope that our baby would survive the pregnancy. We traveled from our home in Kansas City, MO to St. Louis, MO when it was time to deliver. St. Louis Children’s was at least willing to help us. Jack was born on January 16th, 2018 and was intubated and whisked away to the cath lab. At about a week of age we learned Jack’s heart and lungs were to weak to have the normal surgeries done and would require a heart-double lung transplant to survive. After a bumpy couple of months Jack received his second chance at life on May 23rd, 2018. He was finally discharged from the hospital on August 1st,2018 and we were all able to return to our family home in Kansas City in September 2018. Jack is our miracle and it is a true blessing watching him grow and thrive every single day!! Help us raise money for CHD research and other heart families like us!!
