Help The Jesuit Retreat Center (JRC) change lives! People come to The JRC for spiritual transformation, healing, and discernment of God’s presence in their lives. We offer scholarships to those who seek to grow closer to God but cannot afford the full price of a retreat. Your gift today will support our scholarship fund.
Scholarships will support groups such as:
Homeboys Industries, founded by Fr. Greg Boyle, S.J., who is a recipient of the California Peace Prize. Homeboys Industries is the largest and most successful gang rehabilitation program for men and women in the world. At the end of their two-year program, the ex-gang members come on retreat at The JRC as an invitation to consider tenderness as the highest form of spiritual maturity.
Fr. Tom Weston, S.J., an internationally renowned speaker, runs 5 popular retreats here every year for people who are in Recovery and their families. Your gift will enable some who can't afford the retreat to come to find God's blessings and the spirituality of self-compassion.
Our own Pastoral Staff, Fr. Chi Ngo, S.J., Fr. Kevin Leidich, S.J., and Fr. Andrew Rodriguez, S.J., has a combined experience of over 30 years, holding retreats throughout the country. We offer silent and non-silent retreats throughout the year on Ignatian Spirituality topics, like prayer, discernment, forgiveness, and healing. Giving to the scholarship fund will make these retreats accessible to anyone seeking a closer walk with God.
Your generosity will significantly help The JRC in serving thousands of retreatants from all walks of life, including pastoral ministers, religious sisters, laypeople and young people from throughout the Bay Area.
Our goal for this campaign is $10,000. Any size gift is appreciated and will make a difference. Our campaign runs through #Giving Tuesday, which is December 3, 2019.
The JRC Goal
Our goal is to propel The JRC as a cornerstone to social change, leading individuals and families of all backgrounds, stages of life and religious beliefs, to learn, thrive and improve our community.
In today's political and social climate, the bottom line is this - we are called to awaken and nurture a deep desire to be more like Jesus. Because of your help, we can accomplish this.
Your generosity and support make our life-changing work possible!
We are The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos. The only Jesuit Retreat Center west of the Rockies and the largest Catholic center of its type in the western half of the United States. Our mission is to bring people closer to God. We fulfill our mission by providing numerous retreats, workshops, training programs, and individual direction to thousands of individuals every year.
For over five centuries, The Spiritual Exercises has been a most fruitful means to cultivate a deeper relationship with God, accessing God’s love and grace that radically transforms the human spirit.
The JRC has faithfully fulfilled this mission for 95 years by providing numerous retreats, workshops, training programs, and individual direction to over 7,500 individuals every year.
The spiritual foundation of the retreat center has remained unchanged since hosting its first retreat in 1925. We consider the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius Loyola as a blueprint for spiritual progress.
Ignatius of Loyola developed an approach to Christian spirituality that emphasized “finding God in all things,” an understanding that God is ever-present and active in the world and that each person can have a close personal relationship with God and thereby develop lives of service in mission to a world in need.
The JRC is committed to maintaining retreats and training programs with themes of forgiveness, ways to pray, and Ignatian Spirituality. Leading retreatants to make a difference, that not only changes hearts and minds, but changes lives.
It inspires "ordinary people to go out and do extraordinary things.”
--Ms. Patricia Dillaway
Our Jesuits on staff, partnered with religious and laypeople, offer encouragement and direction as they invite each person to find God in his or her experience and live in gratitude and generosity.

Men and women come to the Jesuit Retreat Center for retreats, as they all have something in common. Some feel overwhelmed by their daily lives and feel depleted and drained physically, emotionally, and spiritually. They seek rejuvenation. The Jesuit Retreat Center aims to encourage their retreatants to enjoy their time with God and not put pressure on themselves to decide or discover a breakthrough. These men and women are pulled in so many directions that their prayer lives suffer or go by the wayside. Retreats and workshops allow them to recommit to what they have committed to before – their families, their relationships and the fruitful means to cultivate a deeper relationship with God, accessing God’s love and grace that radically transforms the human spirit.
You are warmly invited to come experience this tranquil setting to rest, reflect, and pray. We welcome people of all faiths who seek to draw closer to God.
