Sita is an elephant that lives in Nepal. And she needs your help.
Sita is one of many privately owned elephants that are used for tourism. Like many, she is overworked, undernourished, and has been subject to antiquated domesticating practices that have left her blind.
Sita recently collapsed from exhaustion, unable to move for a week. She sustained debilitating pressure wounds on her body as the result of her fall. Her injuries are life-threatening.
What Sita needs is a safe and wild space to roam, a nutrient-rich diet, and freedom from the demands of tourist labor. She deserves to be a happy, healthy elephant for the rest of her life.
Thankfully, we’ve found the perfect place for Sita, a lush sanctuary where she can live freely and heal under expert veterinary care.
To get her there, we need your help.
Planting Peace is raising $25,000 to purchase Sita from her owner, and provide the ongoing care she needs.
Any donation you can make will help us in our effort to save this beautiful creature from a sentence of labor and give her a peaceful, happy future.
