Sweet Penny desperately needs our help!
Penny has been spotted wandering alone, extremely underweight in a field in Austin. She was able to be captured today by our team! With no microchip, no collar or ID, and no one in the area recognizing her we fear she may have been dumped.
After our team arrived today, they noticed that Penny was unable to bear weight on her back leg and it appeared as if her hip may have been dislocated, everything was swollen and she was clearly in a lot of pain.
She's a gentle giant and was very grateful for her rescue today after being carried over to the nice A/C-filled car and most likely her first bowl of cool water in quite some time.
We've named her Penny due to her beautiful copper coloring.
We have a loving foster home secured for her but she is need of immediate medical attention. She's currently at one of our partner vets, Sunset Canyon Vet Clinic.
After her exam and X-rays, we've learned she has a severely fractured tibia that is so severe that she has bone fragments floating around and poking out. She will be splinted immediately and then will need surgery to heal her leg.
Our vet team can not see any other signs of this because from a car accident, so with this specific time of fracture, it may very well have been from abuse/blunt force trauma.
Penny is estimated to be only 2 years old and we want to help give her the quality of life she deserves.
With TRAPRS being overly inundated with cases due to COVID, we could use all the help we can get to help this sweet girl get back on her feet (literally!)
Can you help us save her?
Any amount helps and if you're financially unable at the time, SHARES of this post help tremendously! So please, share away!
