The Irish Terrier Rescue Network (ITRN) is the only 501(c)3 tax exempt non-profit public charity dedicated to the Irish Terrier in the nation. Our mission is to rescue, provide safe haven, and re-home abandoned, neglected, and unwanted Irish Terriers regardless of pedigree or circumstance. We were founded in December 2010 with a few simple goals: ensure that every Irish Terrier has a hearth and a home to call their own, mentor new owners, and educate the public about the breed and rescue in general.
Our Irish Terriers come from shelters, owners who can not keep their companions due to life changing circumstances, and breeders. ITRN assesses each dog's individual needs and provides the highest quality of care possible - from vet care to foster care - ITRN loves and supports each Irish as a treasure in our general Rescue program. Our Owner Rehome program enables new and previous owners of the red one to connect - we have discovered that this approach provides support for both the dog and the humans involved and in some cases long time friendships are developed. Our Rusty Red Dog program enables elderly dogs to be permanently placed without an adoption fee or to stay in long term foster for the rest of their days with ITRN paying for their vet expenses.
The days of COVID-19 and social distancing has made rescue a challenge - dogs are not moving to their new homes as quickly and we are incurring additional expenses in the areas of fostering and boarding as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventative. This GoFundMe campaign will cover these costs.
