We’re Relentless Academy and we’re a 501c(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable and accessible S.M.A.R.T. (Science, Math, Art, Reading, Technology) academic, music and financial literacy programs to youth in underserved communities in Minnesota.
Our mission is powerful and greatly needed in the Twin Cities: To prepare the next generation of leaders for S.M.A.R.T. proficiency to close the academic achievement and wealth gap among families in underserved communities.
Did you know that students of color lag behind that of their counterparts in academics; and for some ethnic groups, Minnesota is last in the country for educational success? In Brooklyn Center and the surrounding areas, students of color did not meet 3rd grade reading standards nor 8th grade math standards compared to their counterparts.
Access to STEM, leads to improved creativity, teamwork and collaboration, improved communication and critical thinking and problem solving skills. Access to the arts, contributes to kids overall social emotional health. Over time, studies have shown that building these skills translates into better academic outcomes for kids in other subjects including writing, literacy, mathematics, and science. In fact, a report from Americans for the Arts concluded that children who regularly engage in artistic activities are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement! It has been scientifically proven that music has advantages and health benefits for children such as it helps to improve their brainpower and memory functions. It also is proven that students who were exposed to music while growing up excelled better in academics than those who were not. Music helps in stimulating the part of the brain that is responsible for reading, math, and emotional development. Lastly, students who learn to manage their finances early and often become adults who are better equipped to live independently and are more likely to make good financial decisions.
This is why the Relentless Academy S.M.A.R.T. Summer Program is greatly needed in the Twin Cities. With our core focus of serving science, math, art, reading, technology, music and financial literacy curriculum, it’s aimed at helping students maintain and excel beyond what they have learned to date, to nurture their curiosity into new fields of study and to prepare them to be S.M.A.R.T. and fiscall responsible leaders that the world would need for generations to come!
Our goal is to raise $15,000 to cover the cost of providing this 11-week full-day summer program tuition free-of-charge to youth in grades K-12 living in Brooklyn Center and surrounding areas.
Any donation amount helps! Your donation will help our program provide over 170+ hours of academic and enrichment learning to underserved youth from June 14-August 27.
Your contribution will provide us the ability to purchase 40 laptops, headphones, lego kits, science materials, and other programming and operational needs.
Thank you for your heart and for your help!
