KC Shepherd's Center provides programs, leadership and advocacy to help both active and homebound older adults live healthy, engaged and independent lives.
We currently have been utilizing a 1999 van to pick up frozen meals, deliver hot meals, fresh produce and personal care supplies for volunteers and staff to deliver to clients in need around the Kansas City area. In the last two weeks the van has broken down multiple times and we are unable to determine if it can even be fixed after today's breakdown. This not only puts our current clients at risk but also the ability to serve more individuals as our program continues to grow due to the current climate of the United States.
Want to help? Have a refrigerated van or refrigeration conversion to donate? Know a company that might want to donate a vehicle to us on which we can rely? This is an urgent need- it's the way we deliver meals to seniors in Kansas City.
Can you help us spread the word? Please donate to help us purchase a refrigerated truck for the quadrupled number of seniors we are ALREADY serving since March - and that need will continue long after stay at home orders are over. Even before COVID, 1 in 12 seniors in KC did not have enough healthy food to eat.
We expect and are planning for continued exponential growth in the need to feed homebound individuals in KC. We need your help. We will accept ANY TYPE of donation including, a refrigerated truck (!) any donation helps to continue to advocate for, serve and celebrate seniors in KC.
If you're not able to make a donation right now, could you please share this post on your own social media? If 300 people donated $100....we could BUY a refrigerated truck outright. Anything is appreciated and makes a real difference in the lives of the elders in our community.
