Did you know that there are 40,000 homeless veterans living in America?
Between August 8-16--in support of the men and women who have served us all--I invite you to join me in taking 40,000 steps to represent your support for these individuals.
They say the average healthy adult should be able to take 10,000 steps a day. To we tradeshow professionals, this number is child's play, so I suspect we'll have no problem crushing this goal, while raising funds to help an incredible, local organization continue to help homeless individuals return to healthy, meaningful, and productive lives.
NOTE - In the interest of our supporters' comfort and safety, Homes for the Brave has chosen to take its annual Step Up for the Brave event virtual for 2020, and now encourages individuals around the world to Step OUT for homeless veterans from anywhere you like!
About Homes for the Brave
Homes for the Brave is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides housing and support services to help homeless individuals return to productive and meaningful lives.
HFTB operates three housing programs in Bridgeport, CT, including the only transitional home in the tristate area exclusively for female veterans and their young children.
The organization also offers vocational, educational, and computer skills training; clinical programming; and services for the wider Veteran community such as therapy dog visits, meetings with veteran representatives from federal legislators’ offices, movie afternoons, walking groups, and AA meetings.
Over the past year, HFTB has provided a total of 19,097 nights of safe shelter, 413 hours of computer education, 14,918 meals served, and 51 job placements. 94% of the individuals they served are veterans and 20% are women. Since opening their doors in 2002, they have served nearly 1,400 individuals.
As the state and federal funding HFTB used to rely on continues to shrink. we depend on the generosity of individuals to help us serve the men and women who have served us all!
