Throughout September 2019, Oregon Recovers will celebrate National Recovery Month with statewide Walk for Recovery events.
The Walk for Recovery began in Portland in 2018 as the largest addiction recovery event in the state of Oregon. This year’s events will engage thousands of people across the state in raising the awareness necessary to create lasting policy change, and will generate essential funding for the public education and advocacy work of Oregon Recovers.
With this event, Oregon Recovers is creating a unique opportunity for people in recovery and their friends and family to strengthen their recovery by walking in solidarity, building community and smashing the stigma of addiction. The Portland event, a 2-mile benefit walk which kicks off with a rally in Shemanski Park, will take participants past many of the touchstone organizations - like Central City Concern and DePaul Treatment Center - that help Oregonians suffering from addiction find their way out of the darkness of their disease and on to the path of long-term recovery.
