"This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before." -Leonard Bernstein
Recital for Refugees
May 5th, 2018 at 4pm
Opera America, 330 7th Ave, 7th Floor, NYC
Last year, President Trump's controversial travel ban resulted in heightened awareness and frequent news coverage of the refugee crisis. Though the press has since dramatically decreased, millions of innocent men, women, and children are still fleeing their countries to escape violence and persecution. Music has the power to inspire and bring people together, which is why I'm collaborating with 6 incredible musicians for this fundraising concert. We hope our songs will inspire you to take action.
We have chosen to raise money specifically for the International Rescue Committee because of their proven leadership in providing relief and resources to those who desperately need it. "The IRC responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 28 offices across the U.S. helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future, and strengthen their communities."
