Recently, Mitchell and I went to El Salvador with One Kid One World to help kids in rural communities stay in school.
While we’ve had many amazing experiences traveling and doing charity work, this one was very different. Through this amazing charity we were able to go to a rural community in La Libertad, El Salvador and rebuild the San Alonso School alongside students from the school. Traveling from the US were eight families and seven teenagers. Seeing kids from the school and from the US working side by side despite the language barrier and the cultural difference reminds me that kids are all the same. One Kid, One World.
What was most exciting for me was to see Mitchell loving doing hard manual labor. It was an amazing boost to his self-esteem and I’ve never seen him smile so much!! One the trip, he helped build the playground, plant plants and paint. We all worked really, really hard. It was four long sweaty days of very satisfying work but we are definitely going back next year and the year after that and the year after that.
While we paid for our hotel and flights all the work that was done, building bathrooms, a kitchen, a library, and a multipurpose area costs money….so here’s the part where you come in.
We need to raise $5000 to pay for all the work that was done and replenish the coffers of the charity so they can do this again in another deserving community.
If you are able, we ask that you give a tax deductible donation to One Kid, One World.
This is such a deserving charity that does amazing work, it will make your heart feel good to be a part of this effort.
We greatly appreciate your help.
Love, Wendy and Mitchell
