Hi guys, I am hiking Mt. Washington for the 2nd time for a fantastic nonprofit organization I have been volunteering at for 2 years now, called Amirah New England. And this year my friend Rachel (another fantastic advocate for the abolition of human trafficking through awesome organizations like Exodus Cry), is joining me!!!
Amirah is a Christian safe house dedicated to providing a home for women coming out of sex trafficking. It is a holistic care program that not only provides physical safety, but mental health and substance abuse counseling programs, financial and legal assistance, and schooling opportunities. In the two years that I have gotten to be a part of this program, I have seen two graduations, several women get their GEDs, get full time jobs, and take community college classes. My role as a volunteer is a pretty awesome one. I get to be in the house, help hand out medications, drive them to appointments, and most of all, I get to develop relationships with them and hear their stories. I get to listen to them recount the horrors of their former lives and see how much God has done in them since they have been to Amirah house. They are incredibly strong, resilient warriors, and I am honored to be a part of their lives in this small way. Please consider being a part of their lives, too. Thanks so much!!
