'Ello friends, family, constituents, comrades near and far --
I am rather fortuitously able to run the 2020 NYC United Half Marathon next year in March, and I've decided to run on behalf of The Parkinson's Foundation. I'll keep it short: Both of my Grandma's either have had or currently have Parkinson's Disease, and I've seen the toll it's taken on both of them and my family.
What I've also seen, however, are many moments of hopefulness, one of which has stuck with me for years. After showing dozens of pictures of my mom, various pets, and me as a child, my Grandma come out of her Parkinson's dementia fog and had a brief moment of clarity, recognizing who we were. It's that kind of moment that I'd like to see again - not just for me, but for everyone who is living with Parkinson's disease or has a friend/family member who they have lost because of it.
If you're willing and able, please donate to my campaign - I am aiming to raise $1500. The littlest amount can make the biggest difference! A donation of $25 provides up to 4 people with free books about Parkinson's from The PD Foundation; $100 provides 7 free life-saving Aware-in-Care kits, and so on and so forth.
Thank you for listening to my story. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, and thank you for your support! I’ll be running for all of you on March 15!
