Hello! This is Rebecca and Dom, two students currently taking a gap from school. We'd like your help!
One of our goals for our gap semesters was to challenge ourselves in different ways, give ourselves space, and by doing so, find new ways to give back to our community. From April 14th to April 22nd, we are going on a long-distance biking trip -- a total of 585 miles or 940 kilometers in 9-days -- cycling a full rotation around the island of Taiwan, the country Rebecca is from. We want to use our biking trip as a means to collectively raise $585 for EMW Bookstore (http://www.emwbookstore.com/).
EDIT: We can't believe we reached our goal of $585, a dollar for every mile we rode together, with the generosity of 21 donations. Thank you for seeing the great cause that EMW is. We think we can do a little more for EMW. We're upping our donation goal to $940, making it a dollar for every kilometer we rode together. Can we reach this new goal?
EMW Bookstore is a community space, library, and gallery in Cambridge, MA, that uplifts marginalized communities pursuing connections between arts, science, education and activism. Today, EMW hosts and curates a range of programs, including East Meets Words, the longest running open mic centering Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) voices in the east coast, East Meets Beats, Drink Salon, Street Bio, and a Community Library. For us, EMW has been a place that has helped define community and collective learning. Therefore, we want to give back to the place. We want to coincide our biking efforts with EMW’s Read-a-thon 2018 campaign, ending at the end of April, which celebrates the second anniversary of its Community Library.
Please support us, if you can, and follow us for more updates as we ride Taiwan!
