Reach Out and Read Minnesota is thrilled to be an official Charity Partner of Grandma's Marathon 2020. Funds raised by our generous runners will go directly to supporting our youngest learners across the state.
Reach Out and Read Minnesota is a non-profit organization, that seeks to give Minnesotan children a foundation for success by incorporating books into children's routine pediatric care and encouraging families to read together.
Our program works with doctors and nurses across the state to provide children with culturally and developmentally appropriate books, and and educate families on how to use those books to help build their children's brains.
We know our progam works! Reading to children has been proven essential to their brain development, their social emotional well-being, as well as their school readiness. Families in our program are 2.5 times as likely to read to to their together, and children in our program improve their language ability by 3-6 months.
We currently serve over 175,000 children across the state at more than 270 clinics. We know we can reach more children with your contributions and the generous support of our runners!
We have a limited number of Grandma's Marathon and Gary Bjorkland Half-Marathon registrations for runners who are willing to commit to fundraising for our team. Our minimum fundraising goal for runners is $500, though considering the success we've had in the past, we would encourage our runners to set a personal goal of $1000 or more.
Deadline for Charity Runner registration is May 8th, 2020.
