The Re-Bicycle Lenawee co-op endeavors to position bicycles as a fundamental resource in the work of creating an empowered community. Nearly 1,400 bicycles have rolled out our doors since we opened in 2010, almost half of which have been earned through community service or by individuals learning how to build, repair, and maintain bicycles on their own. We are run entirely by volunteers and supported solely through donations. Since 2012, the owner of our building has graciously rented the facility to us at a very low rate. But the time has come that he needs to sell the building. If we are unable to purchase it, there is a strong possibility that we will be forced to close, and our community will lose what has become an invaluable resource to countless individuals, many of whom are low-income or homeless and depend on bicycles for regular transportation. We can cover the mortgage payments, but we do not have the necessary funds for down payment and closing costs. So we're launching the Buy Our Building (B.O.B.) Blitz in an effort to raise $15,000 by April 30. We cannot do this without you. Please give, and please share. We are a 501(c)3 organization, and all gifts are tax-deductable. Thank you, from the very bottom of our hearts, for your support.
