The Alcor Life Extension Foundation is the world leader in cryonics, cryonics research, and cryonics technology. Alcor is a non-profit, federally tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Alcor was founded in 1972 and our mission is to save and extend lives with cryonics through:
1. Long-term safety of current and future patients in cryopreservation.
2. Cryopreservation of all current and future members as patients upon legal death.
3. Future restoration of good health and reintegration into society for all patients.
4. Advancement of cryonics technology through research and development.
5. Educating the public.
One of Alcor’s initiatives is RAPID (Readiness And Procedure Innovation/Deployment). This strategic initiative proposes use of cadavers, who have donated their bodies to science, to advance our research in cryopreservation and develop new techniques to improve cryopreservation procedures.
Dr. James Bedford became the world’s first person to be cryopreserved on January 12, 1967 and he’s been entrusted to the care of Alcor for 30 continuous years. To mark this historic event, a confidential donor pledged matching donations to Alcor’s Research Fund for research initiatives that advance the science of cryonics, such as RAPID. All monthly reoccurring donations to Alcor’s Research Fund will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $15,000! Please donate and select the “Monthly” button on the next page.
