Erik was my brother-in-law.
I was able to see first-hand how much a family who is going through the trauma of cancer really needs. I came out here from Arizona in December 2018 to celebrate my sister's 40th birthday. Ronniee-Marie didn't want a party, but it meant a lot to Erik and so they found a place where he could be comfy and they planned a small party. Unfortunately, it didn't happen because he got shingles and they had to go to the hospital, making it home just a couple of days before Christmas. I saw the toll it took on the kids to be away from their parents and how draining it was on Ronniee-Marie.
I moved in with them in February 2019. I got to laugh and enjoy precious moments with Erik. I was able to help by cooking and hanging out with the kids. But, Ronniee-Marie who never asked for anything, could have used more.
Erik's Way is hoping to be that "more". More opportunities for children to have someone to hang out with, more opportunities for the caregivers to be given a moment to breathe, more opportunities for the families to enjoy "normal" things in spite of the chaos and uncertainty.
Erik's Way will help the daily lives of those impacted by cancer. Please support Erik's Way. Any donation is greatly appreciated. They even set up a monthly giving program, called The Quarterback Club, to ensure that their program can consistently support the families.
