Youth Empowered Action for Success (YES)!
A call for racial equity, understanding, and action. This campaign is a youth empowered action project where cross sectors of the community will interact with underserved homeless youth and young adults to develop solutions. While representing a large segment of the homeless youth population, Black youth have access to far fewer resources and services. Incarceration has historically been the intervention of choice for Black youth, including those who commit low-level non-violent offenses or no offense aside from homelessness or hunger.
Youth will receive job readiness, leadership, and empowerment training as they engage in cross-sector collaborations with the intent of reversing systemic, institutional racial disparities among homeless people. The effort aims to collectively develop answers that can lead to meaningful and responsive systemic changes.
