In 1974, the Rescue Mission of Cape Fear was founded by a group of like-minded individuals to help the homeless population of Wilmington, NC and the surrounding area. Since that time we've helped thousands of people experiencing homelessness due to a variety of reasons with our rescue mission. In the time since we have been operational, the Mission has had the chance to make a true difference in the lives of people with their hurts, habits and hang ups.
The Mission has availability to house 16 men in a dorm-like setting. Men in our 90 day program are given 3 meals a day, clothing and toiletries along with a warm bed each night. During the 90 days, which can be extended, the men learn important life skills along with chapel, weekly recovery meetings for substance abuse and church services on Sunday.
We are now in a position where we need to raise funds to replace our roof at the Mission and Bargain Center. We are self-funded through donations and the operation of the Bargain Center which sells items that have been donated such as clothing, housewares and furniture. No portion of our operating income comes from any government source. As such, we rely on donations of monies along with new and gently used items to keep the Mission open.
Our building is over 60 years old and as such is in need of repairs. We'd like to ask you to help us on our way. The old adage that "every penny counts" has never been more true than now! Thank you for helping us to keep the Mission going strong!!
