In the oscar nominated film Lion, we follow the journey of 5 year old, Saroo, who becomes separated from his older brother at a railway station in central India. In a frantic search for his sibling, he boards a departing train that takes him 1,000 miles from home to Calcutta. Too young to identify himself or his village, he must survive on the streets of Calcutta until he is ultimately adopted by an Australian couple. 25 years later, he strives to find his birth mother.
You can make a difference in the lives of children with similar stories to Saroo, that are at risk, by supporting Railway Children.
Railway Children is an international children’s charity fighting for vulnerable children who live alone at risk on the streets or in railway stations.
