Since Pedal the Petrified 2020 has gone virtual, I will be riding my 100-kilometers through the northern suburbs of Chicago the weekend of September 12th. And, while the ride does not have the natural beauty of the Petrified Forest or the camaraderie of this wonderful community, the cause remains as vital as ever. This bicycling event is organized by NPC Friends and Family to raise scholarships for students of Northland Pioneer College. NPC is a rural, multi-campus community college that serves all Navajo and Apache counties in northeastern Arizona. Profound poverty places significant financial constraints on NPC students' ability to earn a college degree. A schoolarship is so much more than money to NPC students. It is an affirmation that someone cares about their struggles and wants them to succeed. So, thank you to all who helped out last year and please join me again in raising scholarships for these inspiring college students.
