On October 13, I'll be competing in the 3rd annual Driftless Flyathlon at the beautiful Yellow River State Forest. A flyathlon is a trail race where you have to catch a fish somewhere along the course--The bigger the fish you catch, the more time is subtracted off of your race time. This year, I will be competing in the 6.4 mile "challenge course" that includes a grueling climb up to the fire tower at the YRSF.
In addition to friendly competition, the main goal of every flyathlon is to raise funds that go towards local trout habitat conservation efforts. By partnering with the Trout Unlimited Iowa Council and Running Rivers, you can be confident that all of your (tax deductible) donation will go toward on the ground, coldwater conservation projects here in Iowa.
The Driftless Area has the best trout fishing and some of the most scenic landscapes in the state of Iowa. Please consider donating so we can help keep Iowa's public lands and water beautiful years to come!
