This spring break, 12 dedicated college students from San Diego State University and CSU San Marcos will be embarking on a journey to the city of San Juan Comalpa, Guatemala. This is a city with a majority of the population living under the poverty line, a city with no system for waste management but nevertheless filled with arts, culture and hard working people. For an entire week, these students will be helping to build the city's schools and houses out of re-purposed materials, meeting the city's inhabitants and volunteering with the children at their schools. Alongside this experience, the students will be learning about sustainability, and why "Shomrei Adamah" or keepers of the Earth is a core Jewish value. This trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference and for our students to step out of their comfort zones to make a difference.
As one of these students, I am so excited travel outside of the US and help an impoverished country rebuild. Thank you so much for donating and supporting me!
