Who Is Imerman Angels?
Imerman Angels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide personalized connections that enable one-on-one support among cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers. In 2018, Team Imerman Angels marathon participants raised over $320,000 and created over 900 connections between those impacted by cancer and a Mentor Angel. Each time we raise $350, it ensures that someone impacted by cancer (an individual or family) can get the help they need at the time they need it most. To learn more click HERE.
Why Imerman Angels?
When my younger sister Renee was only 13 years old, she was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer, and following the cancer came several years of health complications. Those years were some of the most difficult and formative years of my life. I am extraordinarily lucky to say that Renee is healthy and now a registered nurse, whose goal is to give back to the community that so selflessly supported her during her battle.
I can still vividly remember how isolating that cancer diagnosis felt, not only to Renee, but to our entire family. I wish I had known about Imerman Angels' work ten years ago.
I run the marathon as a way to remind myself that, although we may have been lucky, there are so many others who are facing their own struggle today. I run so that others can receive that personalized support, if they so choose.
Please join me in supporting this worthy cause!
