Help me lift up LGBTQ+ youth in the Boston Area!
On September 22nd, I'm lifting at the Boston Strength Alliance. I hope to hit a 290/300lb deadlift, a 120 bench, and a 200lb squat. This would bring my combined total to 620/630lbs, so I'm hoping to raise $620!
Can you help my cause?
Did you know - Almost 16% of MA residents between the ages of 18 and 24 identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or other? And that in 2015, 2.0 percent of MA high school students identified specifically as transgender?
...And yet - LGBTQ+ MA youth have double the reported rates of suicidal thoughts or depression than their peers, 1 out of 4 LGBTQA+ highschool students have reported being homeless at least once, and many students feel unsafe or indicate they are being bullied while at school. BAGLY - Boston Alliance of Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Youth - is a "youth-led, adult supported social support organization, committed to social justice and creating, sustaining, and advocating for programs, policies and services for the LGBTQ+ youth."
BAGLY is doing their part to promote a safe space and inspire policy change on behalf of Boston LGBTQ+ youth in many ways, and I would like to support their cause and fund their efforts.
