Dear WhyHunger Friends,
COVID-19 has sent hunger skyrocketing across the nation, and an estimated 54 million Americans will experience hunger this year. WhyHunger is launching an impactful new way for you to give back. This Thanksgiving, we’re partnering with Run for Good, a new fitness app, to host a national virtual Race to Give Thanks to raise funds and awareness to fight hunger in America.
We invite you and your family to start your Thanksgiving Day by running, walking, or cycling 5.4 miles to raise funds and stand in solidarity with the 54 million Americans struggling to feed their families. This virtual race is designed with all skill levels in mind, and it’s ideal for first-timers and avid runners (and walkers!) alike. You can exercise outside or indoors, alone or with loved ones, in cool gear or coordinated costumes. No matter how you participate, all the funds you raise will connect people in need to nutritious food.
Join The Campaign: To get started, visit the Race to Give Thanks page, click “Join the Campaign,” and follow the simple instructions to download the iOS app for your iPhone. Android users can participate by connecting to WhyHunger’s Race to Give Thanks GoFundMe page.
Spread The Word: Because this is a virtual race, your friends and family can participate with you anywhere in the world. Invite your networks to join the race or make a pledge to support you.
Amplify Your Effort: Help us raise awareness and support for the Race to Give Thanks by spreading the word across social media. Share training progress, crowdsource costume ideas, ask for donations, recruit friends, and post race day photos. Just don’t forget to tag #RaceToGiveThanks and #Hungerthon2020.
WhyHunger will invest all funds directly in our work to end hunger in America by supporting innovative community solutions and by powering our national Hunger Hotline and digital Find Food tools that connect millions of children and families to free, nutritious food close to home.
