My name is Hunter Austin and I'm 1 years old from Vivian, La. I was born to Tyler and Amanda Austin on April 23, 2017 I have 2 brothers and a big sister. I was born with Bilateral Clubfeet which means my feet are turned inwards, I'm the only one in my family born with this defect. Doctor's haven't found out what the cause is and that's why I'm here. Here is some information from my mommy, Clubfoot is a deformity in which an infant's foot is turned inward, often so severely that the bottom of the foot faces sideways or even upward. Approximately one infant in every 1,000 live births will have clubfoot, making it one of the more common congenital (present at birth) foot deformities. Clubfoot is not painful during infancy. However, if your child's clubfoot is not treated, the foot will remain deformed, and he or she will not be able to walk normally. With proper treatment, however, the majority of children are able to enjoy a wide range of physical activities with little trace of the deformity. Most cases of clubfoot are successfully treated with nonsurgical methods that may include a combination of stretching, casting, and bracing. Treatment usually begins shortly after birth. My journey started 1 week after my birth we went to Shriner's in Shreveport, Louisiana to meet with the best doctor, her name is Dr. Bemish she is so nice. I received 2 sets of cast which I wore for 1 month, it was very uncomfortable I could't take regular baths like other babies and it was really hard to sleep at night. After the two sets I went in for my tenotomy, I stayed in the hospital for 2 days just to make sure everything was okay. After surgery I had 4 more sets of cast. In October of 2017 i finally graduated to BNB ( boots and bar) for 23 hours a day. I kept my mom up all night because I didn't like them but she stuck with me and each week it got a little better. Finally in December 2017 I then went from 23 hours to 12 hours in my boots. Now I am learning to walk which is really cool holding onto things, my feet look awesome and I'm always a happy baby, I would like to raise Awareness in my hometown for children just like me to get the special care they need to do everything we dream of doing like everyone else. If you would Please donate to this cause. Thank you.
