On Friday, May 11th, 10 members for the Dartmouth Running Team will embark on a 130 mile relay race across the state of New Hampshire. We will begin on the eastern border of Maine and New Hampshire and will run over the course of 20 hours to the Ledyard Bridge on the Connecticut River, the geographic border of Vermont and New Hampshire. Each participant will run about 15-20 miles of the journey, spread out over 2-3 legs of the race. We will run throughout the night and plan to arrive at the Ledyard Bridge, cross over into Vermont, and finish the race on Saturday, May 12th.
Each year we partake in this event to raise money for CHaD - the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth. CHaD does incredible work serving the Upper Valley, and is especially important because of its remote location from urban medical centers. The hospital has deep roots in the Dartmouth community, and our team is proud to have a long standing relationship with them.
Because these programs rely so heavily on philanthropy, we would enormously appreciate any donation to our campaign. Small gifts make a big difference; amounts on the order of $10-50 can provide things like meals, birthday parties, and comfort items to sick children and their families. A gift of $125 can provide support for children and their families for the first week after cancer treatment, and a gift of $250-500 can provide 12 at risk families with CPR certification training and a digital tablet, to screen families in clinic for exposure to domestic violence.
We are also multiplying our efforts by partnering with Positive Tracks – an organization that helps young people make change using the power of athletics. In addition to supporting our team and our efforts, they are doubling the dollars we raise for CHaD up to $1,000! If you can’t make a donation at this point, please help us reach our goal by sharing this on social media! Or, even better, send an email to friends who might be interested in contributing with a link to our campaign!
Thank you so much for helping our team support CHaD, so we can help kids get back to being kids!
