Join Quinnipiac students, faculty, and staff from the Global Public Health undergraduate and medical school programs as part of our 2nd annual Run for Refugees fundraising team. This inter-professional and inter-generational team will run in support of IRIS's (Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services) mission of service in resettling refugees in Connecticut. In 2018, IRIS resettled 530 refugees in the greater New Haven area. Since the organization’s founding in 1982, they have helped to resettle more than 6,000 refugees. IRIS provides a wide array of services to these new Americans including daily English lessons, childcare, assistance with registering children in the local schools, access to health care provided by Yale-New Haven Hospital and a thorough cultural orientation. IRIS works intensively with each new arrival to help find employment by offering resume assistance, a job club, interview assistance and actual job placement. IRIS also provides extra services including a women’s group and a variety of young people’s groups. In 2017, we had a team of 50 runners and raised $2,200!
Our 2018 team was even larger with 60 participants! Kick off Super Bowl Sunday at the 2019 Run for Refugees on February 4th! Support refugees at the largest annual fundraiser for IRIS (Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services), a refugee resettlement agency in New Haven, CT.
IRIS helps refugees and other displaced people establish new lives, regain hope, and contribute to the vitality of Connecticut’s communities. The run includes a post-race party with live music, international food, and an awards ceremony celebrating our mission to positively integrate refugees to Connecticut. Register to run HERE!
