The Solace Sunrise Walk is an annual 5K Walk/Run that raises funds for Solace House and creates awareness for suicide prevention.
Solace House, located in Long Island City, Queens and on McLean Avenue, Yonkers, provides free one-to-one counseling for people who are in suicidal distress, have made a suicide attempt, engage in self-harm and/or have been bereaved by suicide.
We also offer group bereavement counseling, Family Support for our client’s loved ones and Community Awareness Workshops.
All of our services are completely free of charge, easily accessible and confidential.
This unique, exhilarating event begins in the dark and early hours of the morning. Participants cross the finish line just as the sun is rising, symbolic of the journey many of our clients take when attending Solace House. Walking from darkness into light, moving away from despair to a hopeful future. The walk brings the community together; to remember those we have lost to suicide and to reinforce the message you are not alone.
Through sponsorship, registration and contributions, the Solace Sunrise Walk supports our ambition to operate our two free service centers in New York and to contribute towards our expansion in the U.S. and Canada.
The Solace Sunrise Walk is our biggest annual fundraiser and will take place in multiple venues across the U.S. and Canada this summer. To find a venue and date near you visit our website: www.solacehouseusa.org.
