Black and Missing Foundation Inc., (BAMFI) has established the 2020 Cpl. Phyllis Y. Henderson Memorial Scholarship. Cpl. Henderson, a veteran law enforcement official with the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office in Arlington, VA; and an avid supporter and volunteer of BAMFI passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2018 at the age of 53. Cpl. Henderson served the Arlington, VA community over twenty years with integrity, honor and grace.
My dearest friend, Phyllis had such a beautiful and contagious smile, vibrant personality and an undeniable sense of style.
Phyllis believed in living life to the fullest and inspired those around her to do so too. Phyllis was truly a woman of faith who enjoyed participating in Outreach Ministry and volunteering with the Black and Missing Foundation, Inc (BAMFI). After Phyllis' sudden and untimely death, I learned that she left $2,500 in her will for BAMFI.
Establishing The Corporal Phyllis Y. Henderson Memorial Scholarship is the gift that lasts a lifetime and honors her legacy by paying it forward to future generations of students. "Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it." ~ Marian Wright Edelman
My dearest friend, Phyllis thank you for 18 glorious years of love, laughter, friendship and sisterhood, which I will forever cherish. Until we meet again. 💜
