When you become a part of the boys volleyball program at Middleton High School you are a member of a very special community. The older kids help make the younger kids feel comfortable with their skills and the younger kids come to support the older kids. We are a family. As a family we wanted to do a fundraiser to help others. We have chosen to raise money that will be allocated to American Cancer Society program services. Many members of our team have been affected by the death of a loved one or friend from cancer or currently have someone close to them fighting the battle. Please join us on September 24th for our Putting a Block on Cancer night. We would like those in attendance to wear the color of the cancer they would like to bring awareness to. If you aren’t familiar with the different colors reference the color chart on our fundraising website; https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/putting-a-block-on-cancer
The money we raise will go towards research to accelerate progress against cancer – all cancers. Following is a summary of The American Cancer Society’s main focuses. Cancer Prevention, funding research to discover how people can take steps to reduce their cancer risk. Cancer Screening and Early Detection, helping individuals know what cancer screenings are right for them and more Access to Care by increasing screening for underserved communities. Monies will also go towards Patient and Caregiver Services, from free rides to chemo, places to stay when treatment is far from home, and our live 24/7 helpline. The American Cancer Society is also working to transform the care and long-term health of the 15.5 million cancer survivors in the US through innovative ways to mitigate the harmful long-term effects from cancer and cancer treatment.
