The Amelia Center is a grief counseling center in Birmingham that provides professional counseling for children and teens grieving the death of a parent, grandparent, sibling, close relative, or friend. They provide a safe place where they can find hope and creatively express feelings through art and play. Counseling is also provided for parents grieving the death of a child of any age, ranging from pregnancy loss through adulthood.
The Amelia Center operates off of donations from individuals and organizations as well as the support of United Way of Central Alabama and Children’s of Alabama. Because of the generous support of these organizations and individuals, counseling services at the Amelia Center are provided at no set cost to families.
Pure Barre 280 has a personal connection to The Amelia Center through our teacher, Olivia Dorn—she may help you LTB during the weekend, but during the week Olivia is a counselor at The Amelia Center! Pure Barre 280 has chosen this organization to recognize during our month of Pure Gratitude in order to support The Amelia Center’s mission of providing a place of hope for grieving children, parents, and families.
