PULSE (Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience) cultivates a community of young servant leaders to transform Pittsburgh. They invite recent, college graduates to partner with local nonprofits for a year of service and leadership. I got excited about the PULSE program because it gives me the opportunity to give back and serve a community. I believe it is through service to others that we are able to live a sustained and fulfilling life. Living in the city and connecting with my peers are also aspects that caught my attention.
I am looking forward to experiencing the nonprofit sector, trying new things, and learning more about the world in a way that is fully immersive. My hope for the year is to form impactful relationships, explore who I am, and engage in a community that will share experience, wisdom, kindness, and connections that will assist in guiding my path. I am still figuring out where I want to be and what I want to do. I appreciate what PULSE stands for and feel confident that I can make a positive impact through my participation.
