Hi all! My name is Howard Ly! For those of you that don't already know, I decided to join the PULSE program from August 2018 to August 2019.
PULSE is a year-long service program that cultivates a community of young servant leaders to transform Pittsburgh. They invite recent, college graduates (like myself) to partner with local nonprofits for a year of service and leadership. After I graduated from Earlham College this past May, I decided to join the PULSE program because it presents an opportunity for me to further pursue the calling to serve people in need that I discovered during my time at Earlham.
I am looking forward to committing myself full-time to community service, especially in a new, exciting environment such as Pittsburgh. I hope to not only make a bigger, more meaningful difference in the lives of others over this year,, but by doing so alongside other recent college graduates who share my passion for service, I hope to discover how I can continue to find or build supportive, nurturing communities now that I have left the one I had at Earlham.
Part of my first task as a PULSE participant is to assemble a team of people who will support me in this work. I realize that I can’t do this work alone, that I need others to come alongside me and partner with me.
Would you please consider supporting me in this work? I am in the process of raising a minimum of $2500 to cover expenses for this year of service and leadership. Your support will help me carry out my work of serving the Pittsburgh community to the best of my abilities without having to worry too much about finances. When you click on the "Donate" just be sure to choose where it says, "Select a Team."
