I'm participating in my first Pull for Pride event on Saturday, June 15 at Triple Crossing Fulton.
My goal is to raise $1 for every pound that I deadlift - participants have 3 attempts to reach their deadlift max. I'm aiming to pull 350/375/400 for a cumulative total of 1,125 lbs or a $1,125 fundraising goal!
All proceeds from Richmond’s Pull for Pride will be donated to Diversity Richmond & Side by Side, two local organizations which support the LGBTQIA+ community.
I've been a volunteer on Side by Side's communications committee since 2017. Within the past few months, Side by Side, in collaboration with Nationz Foundation and the Virginia Anti Violence Project has worked to launch the Host Home Program, supporting LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness. Did you know that LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely than their heterosexual/ cisgender peers to experience homelessness and are twice as likely to experience sexual assault while homeless!? The Host Home Program provides LGBTQ+ youth with stable, safe and affirming housing.

Women's Strength Coalition - Pull for Pride is hosted by WSC, they will then distribute the donations to Diversity Richmond & Side by Side.
Diversity Richmond - serves as Central Virginia’s LGBTQ+ community center, providing social events, free meeting spaces, financial support and other resources for the community.
Side by Side - serves as Central Virginia’s LGBTQ+ youth organization, providing support groups, counseling, and services.
