A few weeks ago, severe thunderstorms developed quickly in central and southern Iowa, bringing tornadoes that damaged over 600 homes and destroyed more than 70. As residents begin to recover from the destruction of these tornadoes, a Multi-Agency Resource Center, was created to connect those affected to recovery resources. More than 180 cases, have been opened by American Red Cross disaster workers so far which will help more than 630 individuals and families on their road to recovery • Information and Recovery resources are available in English and Spanish at the Resource Center and in Red Cross shelters. The Red Cross will continue to support response and recovery in the community with three meals a day, information dissemination, comfort and a safe place to sleep. • Meals and snacks continue to be served throughout the affected areas at fixed locations and from emergency response vehicles. • The Red Cross continues to work alongside partners to provide comfort and support to residents still recovering from the tornadoes that tore through Iowa.
We make a special call to all the alumni from Iowa State University, University of Iowa, and other higher- education institutions around the State to contribute to the recovery of hundreds of families in your hometown university area.
