Without addressing the insecurity of the collapsing energy infrastructure we cannot succeed in the economic redevelopment of Puerto Rico, correct economic injustice, and raise hundreds of thousands of American citizens out of poverty.
Puerto Rico is an island of incredible promise where clean and sustainable energy technologies, business practices, financial innovation, dynamic regulatory structure, and political determination will all be tested and refined to create the modern, resilient, distributed grid and energy infrastructure of the future. Transformation is underway but enormous challenges remain.
We have a target for 2021 to raise $200,000 or more and we are counting on the support of the GoFundMe Community to extend and expand on our core programming and outreach, build on our incredible experience, and drive Puerto Rico's clean energy transformation.
Transformation Requires Funding. CDBG-DR funding from both the Small Business Incubator and Accelerator program and the Workforce Training program should help extend our work in these two program areas through 2025. However, these federal funds are untouchable without matching funds and a staggeringly large amount of working capital. The Fundacìon Borincana is not a grant making organization - we channel expertise and resources into initiatives to create, develop, support, and educate - though we also seek to create a reserve for scholarships to cover the program fees of low income, nonprofit, and disadvantaged participants.
