My name is Mia Montanari, I am 13 years old and I live in East Hampton, CT. Sadly, my grandfather passed away from cancer a little over two years ago after bravely battling it for two years. He was only 81. I didn’t know much about cancer at the time, and had never really known anyone that had it, but I watched how quickly it took over my grandpa’s body and saw how painful it was to him and to the rest of our family. He was very active, a lot of fun and I miss him very much. Since that time, I have learned about so many more people that have battled cancer – including my aunt who had thyroid cancer at the age of 21 and other great aunts and uncles who have battled this awful disease.
Outside of family, what I love most is ice hockey. I have been playing hockey since I was four years old and I would love to combine my passion for hockey with my love for my grandpa, who also loved sports. This is why I am organizing this event to raise money for the American Cancer Society in honor of my grandfather, Jim Peterson. Please join me in helping to find a cure for this terrible disease!

1. Donate. Click on the donate button and feel free to donate any amount you feel comfortable with. Any amount helps!
2. Pledge. Send me an email to email@example.com stating that you'd like to pledge an amount per goal a team scores. Prior to the event, I will email you the team options you can choose from. Then you can email me back the team you chose and the amount per goal you like to pledge. After the event, I will send you another email with the information about how many goals your team scored and then you come back to this page and donate that amount.
Even if you can’t attend or donate, please feel free to pass this on to anyone you think might be interested.
Thank you for your consideration and please email me with any questions.
