N49238 was manufactured in November 1942 and served as a training platform for fledgling pilots preparing for war. During WWII, the Corsicana airfield was established in order to train these pilots. The aircraft used was the PT-19 just like the one we have. Therefore, the aircraft has a significant relationship with the city of Corsicana, TX. For that reason, our aircraft is now called The Pride of Corsicana. For the past two years, we have been using more and more oil for each hour of flight. We are at a point that now, we use at least one gallon of oil per flight hour! We have even limited the distance that we fly away from our home base due to the amount of oil used per flight. Recently we contracted with another CAF member from Missouri (Col John Ellis) to provide us with a rebuilt Ranger 200 HP engine to power The Pride of Corsicana for the next years. John joined the CAF in 1972, and until recently had his own PT-19. He is currently in the process of building up an engine for us and we hope to be able to get it installed shortly after the beginning of the year and have it ready for next years air shows. Obviously, the cost of this will put a strain on our finances and so we are asking for your help by donating toward the cost of our “new” engine. Any amount helps and we thank you in advance for whatever you can do. Coyote Squadron is proud to take our aircraft to air shows in our local area. The ability to show the younger generation the aircraft that their forefathers flew is a privilege that we take seriously. Educating the younger generation about the men and women who served their nation in time of peace and war is an important duty. Being able to show them the actual aircraft that they used and which are still in a flying capacity is what being in the Commemorative Air Force is all about. We participate in approximately 10 air shows annually, provide flyovers for veteran’s funerals, civic events and military related memorial celebrations. We have recently completed our 21th annual Corsicana Airsho which brings in many different types of CAF and civilian owned aircraft for the public to get up close and personal with. This air show affords us the opportunity to showcase these aircraft for all to see and enjoy.
