The recent increase of hate crimes against AAPIs in frequency and severity have been devastating to our community and our sense of belonging and safety . Even more shocking, AAPI seniors have been intentionally attacked because they are considered easy targets because of their age and frailty.
AAPI seniors are fearful of leaving their homes for routine tasks and may feel even more isolated since they are not going out for their walks or even going to the market. Fortunately, the Asian American Senior Citizen Service Center (AASCSC) has long served this population in Orange County and has stepped up its services and programs to meet their needs during this difficult time.
Though Orange County may be perceived as an area where only the affluent live in, it couldn't be further from the truth for the seniors AASCSC serves. Limited by language barriers, high costs of living, and minimal income through social security, these AAPI seniors struggle to age in place so they can access in-language services and be near their community.
Thank you for reading and for your support! I hope you will consider making a donation to support AASCSC and the services it provides to AAPI seniors.
