We at Prostate Cancer BC are so thankful for our many supporters and their overwhelming generosity. With your help, we were able to fund 4 research grants this year, totaling $120,000. Their research is the next step to finding a cure for prostate cancer and ensuring a better quality of life for the increasing number of men living with prostate cancer and its many comorbidities.
Did you know that 1 in 9 men in BC will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?
This is a staggering number in itself, but what it doesn’t show you is how many men survive their initial fight with prostate cancer, but have to live with urinary incontinence, anxiety and depression from the uncertainty of their cancer coming back and the burden of their symptoms, and even erectile dysfunction. Unfortunately, this is the price that these men have to pay to live longer—to watch their grandchildren grow up, to be there for the children’s weddings and graduations… to just enjoy a bit more time with their partners and loved ones. While we can’t thank our supporters enough for their kindness and continued support, we can do more.
For Giving Tuesday this year, on December 3rd, we have a request. Do something kind for someone else. Whether it’s buying coffee for the car behind you at the drive thru, calling a friend or loved one who you haven’t spoken to in a while, raising awareness about prostate cancer, or sharing your personal story about prostate cancer, we would love to hear about what you’re doing to give back on Giving Tuesday, and to see your #UNselfie.
Or, if it's within your means, make a donation to the Foundation this Giving Tuesday to help us continue promoting prostate cancer awareness, provide support to prostate cancer patients and survivors, and fund crucial research to find a cure for research cancer and reduce the burden of living with prostate cancer,
