Advancing Digital Education in Africa through Poultry Farming.
Eat Well - Learn Better!
Education is the Key to Sustainable Development.
Africa Digital Poultry is a North Carolina based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that seeks to solve hunger, poverty and illiteracy issues in the rural Sub-Saharan Africa regions through the development of community based sustainable poultry farming, while promoting digital education and basic literacy for mainly women and children.
We started the pilot program in the village of Diama in Senegal (West Africa). We trained some local artisans on how to make Egg Incubators from nonworking recycled used Refrigerators powered by a hybrid electric, solar and / or wind energy system.
The Egg Incubators were given to local women and youth groups who were already practicing backyard poultry farming.
Parts of the earnings from the chicken farms are used to support the sustainability of the Digital Literacy programs.
The programs in Senegal are a combination of basic adult literacy, kids digital literacy, career training programs, entrepreneurship and financial literacy to mainly girls and women as well as community poultry farming activities.
Our partners in Senegal are Educasen, Afri Volaille and the NGO AlphaDev which is specialized in various educational and training programs for a sustainable development.
